Treatments
We provide psychotherapy treatment to individuals, parents, and families using various evidence-based treatments designed to address mood, anxiety and attention disorders.
-
How it works.
You will meet with a clinician for the first session focused on learning more about what you hope to get out of treatment. This is followed by a feedback session to set goals and review the recommended course of treatment.
-
Goal Setting.
Each client participates in a collaborative process of goal setting that helps to anchor the focus of treatment. Goal setting typically encourages clients and families to be active agents in the treatment process. These goals will be used track progress.
-
Personalized Services.
Services are personalized to meet the unique needs of each individual and family. Based on individual needs, services can include individual, dyadic caregiver-child, grandparents, parents, and/or all family members.
Our team offers the following evidence-based treatments.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on building skills of recognizing emotional and physical reactions, as well as identifying thoughts and feelings in various situations. Sessions involve skill building, structured worksheets, and developing more effective coping strategies to manage difficult situations.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is a form of Cognitive Behavior Therapy that focuses on learning skills to help manage difficult emotions (emotion regulation), increase awareness of being in the current moment (mindfulness) and improve relationships.
Families OverComing Under Stress
Families OverComing Under Stress (FOCUS) is a brief treatment that aims to build resilience for the entire family. This treatment involves sessions that focus on skills building, strengthening family bonds, emotion regulation, and creating a joint narrative of stressful life events. Sessions may include individual, siblings, caregiver(s), and the entire family.
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a treatment that aims to build strong relationships between caregivers and their young children, while also addressing concerns of behavior problems or difficulties with attention and hyperactivity. Treatment consists of in-the-moment caregiver coaching of play therapy techniques during structured play with the child. There are two phases of treatment that emphasize different skills. Skills in the first phase are intended to help children feel warmth, security, and to build self-esteem, while the second phase focuses on supporting the caregiver in responding to difficult behavior in a calm, confident, and consistent way.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is a trauma-sensitive treatment for children or youth and their caregiver(s). This treatment draws on principles and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral, Humanistic, and Family therapies. The treatment involves learning about trauma (psychoeducation), relaxation skills, and how to manage difficult emotions (emotion regulation) or thoughts (cognitive coping). Sessions include individual, caregiver, and combined.

Choosing the treatment for your family can be a challenging task. Providers at the CRC are equipped with working together with their clients to aid in choosing the course of treatment that best aligns and personalizing services.
